Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Job Summary

Join our dynamic Emergency Department team as a Registered Nurse at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York. This facility features a 64-bed unit, including dedicated areas for triage, acute care, super track, trauma, clinical decision unit (CDU), and psychiatric patients. You will be an integral part of a fast-paced environment, providing critical care to a diverse patient population ranging from newborns to geriatrics.

The Emergency Department manages a wide array of high-acuity cases, including Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, Myocardial Infarction (MI), Cardiac Arrest, and Respiratory Failure. This travel assignment offers the opportunity to utilize advanced clinical skills and specialized equipment while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive direct patient care to a diverse patient population (Newborn, Pediatric, Adult, Geriatric) within the Emergency Department.
  • Manage and stabilize patients presenting with critical conditions such as Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, Myocardial Infarction (MI), Cardiac Arrest, and Respiratory Failure.
  • Operate and monitor specialized equipment, including Rapid Infusors and Arctic Sun.
  • Perform patient triage, deliver acute care, and manage patients in the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) and psychiatric areas.
  • Float to other units as required by facility needs to support patient care.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent, acute care experience in an Emergency Department setting.
  • Documented travel nursing experience.
  • Prior experience providing care to pediatric patients within an Emergency Department.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a Charge Nurse role.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency with EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in managing patients with Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, Myocardial Infarction (MI), Cardiac Arrest, and Respiratory Failure.
  • Competency in operating specialized medical equipment, including Rapid Infusors and Arctic Sun.
  • Exceptional assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and patient interaction.
  • Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced, high-stress, and high-acuity environment.
