Trauma Level I experience is required.
Travelers in this unit are more successful with previous trauma level I experience.
First-time travelers will be accepted with 2 or more years of ER experience.
The patient population includes trauma level I adult and pediatrics, homeless, high volume psychiatric cases, sepsis, and stroke.
The unit has a 30% admission rate with approximately 1000 visits per month.
Pediatric admissions account for 18-20% of visits.
Unit details include Fast Track and Rapid Care with nurse protocols in use.
No resuscitation room, no pediatrics, and no triage are available in this area.
Patients with PCA pumps may be assigned, but staff manage these pumps.
There are designated areas for patients during specific situations.
Interdisciplinary support is available from multiple services including respiratory, interpretation, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, and pharmacy.
The average daily census is around 230 visits.
Travelers will care for patients in designated areas.
Special equipment including flu shot or mask may be required during flu season.
