Emergency Department Registered Nurse (Travel)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Travel Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team in Watertown, New York. This assignment offers a dynamic and fast-paced environment where you will provide critical care to a diverse patient population presenting with various acute illnesses and injuries.
The successful candidate will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, rapid intervention in life-threatening situations, and collaborative care planning. This role requires a commitment to patient safety, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to adapt to evolving patient needs within an emergency setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and intervene effectively in life-threatening situations, demonstrating advanced critical thinking.
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in accordance with established nursing principles and protocols.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, addressing clinical, teaching, mental, and spiritual needs.
- Ensure patient and staff safety by recognizing potential hazards and implementing appropriate interventions, including the safe use of patient lifts.
- Maintain composure and function effectively in high-stress, rapidly changing emergency situations.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, prioritizing patient care needs and delegating tasks appropriately to team members.
- May be required to assume Charge Nurse responsibilities, overseeing unit operations and guiding staff.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent, acute care Emergency Department experience.
- Prior travel nursing experience is mandatory.
- Proficiency with MEDITECH Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Critical Care experience.
- Prior experience in a Charge Nurse role.
Skills & Competencies
- Clinical Skills: Advanced cardiac rhythm interpretation (lethal dysrhythmias), defibrillation, IV insertion, medication administration, phlebotomy.
- Equipment Proficiency: Safe operation and implementation of patient lifts.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong leadership, excellent prioritization and delegation skills, superior interpersonal and organizational capabilities, effective written and verbal communication, ability to perform under pressure in stressful environments.
