Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Craig, Colorado. This role is integral to coordinating and implementing individualized care plans for surgical patients, ensuring optimal outcomes throughout the perioperative continuum.
The successful candidate will function across various surgical settings, including Day Surgery, Intra-Operative (Circulating and/or Scrub), and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This position requires a commitment to patient safety, adherence to professional standards, and collaborative teamwork within a fast-paced surgical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans based on comprehensive assessment to optimize surgical outcomes and maximize available resources.
- Monitor, record, and accurately communicate patient conditions and changes to the interdisciplinary team.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care, including transfers, discharges, and referrals.
- Identify and address barriers to effective communication, considering psychosocial, literacy, financial, and cultural factors.
- Assess patient and family learning needs and provide appropriate education tailored to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Delegate patient care tasks effectively to ancillary personnel, and potentially precept student nurses or new hires.
- Ensure complete Perioperative Verification (e.g., H&P, informed consent, test results, surgical site identification) prior to patient transfer to the surgical suite.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, demonstrating proficiency in advanced cardiac and pediatric life support interventions.
- Provide thorough and accurate hand-off reports on patient's preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative status to receiving nurses.
- Actively participate in departmental and facility performance improvement and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Uphold regulatory requirements and ensure continuous compliance with departmental, hospital, state, and federal regulations and policies.
- Adhere to policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and risk management to maintain a safe environment for patients, public, and staff.

Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of hospital nursing experience.
- Previous Operating Room (OR) experience.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (required for call positions, if applicable).
