Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) Job Summary

This is a 13-week travel assignment for an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) in Clarkston, Washington. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients, functioning as both a circulating and/or scrub nurse.

This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to promote and restore patient health, providing essential physical and psychological support, and supervising assigned team members within the operating room environment. A key aspect of this position includes skilled nursing assessment for recognizing post-anesthesia and post-operative complications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Provide physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.
  • Supervise assigned team members, ensuring adherence to standards.
  • Deliver nursing care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, hospital, Nursing Department, and regulatory standards.
  • Provide direct patient care as a circulating and/or scrub nurse in the operating room.
  • Ensure safe and therapeutically effective nursing care throughout the surgical process.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the operating room.
  • Utilize advanced nursing assessment skills to recognize and respond to post-anesthesia and post-operative complications.
Required Qualifications
  • Current Washington State or MultiState Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in Operating Room (OR) nursing.
  • Previous experience in Recovery Room (PACU) nursing.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficient in the nursing process and patient care planning.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills, particularly for post-anesthesia and post-operative complications.
  • Competency as a circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide physical and psychological support to patients and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and guide team members.
  • Adherence to professional nursing standards and regulatory requirements.
