Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 18 weeks Shift: 12H Evening, Night Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 3 years in Emergency Room License: Active RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: 2 years of Emergency Room experience required No first-time travelers accepted Must have experience with pediatric and adult patients Description: Candidates must have significant experience in both pediatric and adult emergency care. The department includes 36 treatment areas in the adult emergency room and 12 treatment areas in the pediatric emergency room. Approximately 325 patients are seen daily across both emergency rooms. The emergency room staff is required to float between pediatric and adult areas as needed. Candidates must have experience in triage and manage their own holds. Nurse-to-patient ratios are as follows: ICU 1:2; Pediatric 1:4; Adult 1:4. There are designated pediatric physicians on staff for the pediatric emergency room. The emergency room is an accepting center for a variety of critical conditions. Candidates will be required to interpret EKGs as part of their orientation process. ECGs, breathing treatments, and other respiratory assessments are performed by respiratory therapists. Weekend shifts and holiday shifts are required as part of the schedule. Candidates are expected to work flexibly with scheduling and may be placed on standby during low census periods. Navy blue scrubs are required for all nursing staff. Interdepartmental collaboration with techs and other staff is expected to ensure patient care. Travelers typically have no call requirements but should be prepared to respond within 30 minutes if placed on standby.
