Travel Registered Nurse (RN), Oncology Infusion
Job Summary
Pagosa Springs Medical Center, located in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, is seeking an experienced Travel Oncology Infusion Registered Nurse to join their dedicated Oncology and Infusion Services team. This role is based in an outpatient hospital-based infusion center, serving oncology patients within a rural community hospital setting.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive direct patient care, administering chemotherapy and various infusion therapies in a safe, efficient, and compassionate manner. Key responsibilities include patient monitoring, education, and coordination of care within the scope of a Colorado licensed Registered Nurse.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy and other infusion medications as prescribed.
- Perform IV starts, manage port access, and provide central line care.
- Operate infusion pumps and meticulously monitor infusion therapy.
- Assess and monitor patients for adverse reactions and changes in clinical condition.
- Provide thorough patient education regarding treatments, medications, and symptom management.
- Conduct patient assessments, vital sign monitoring, and treatment evaluations.
- Document all patient care activities accurately within the Cerner Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Coordinate patient care effectively with oncology providers and interdisciplinary team members.
- Assist with treatment preparation, chart review, and ensure appropriate lab orders, treatment verification, and insurance authorization.
- Support overall oncology provider activities and infusion clinic operations.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent oncology nursing experience.
- Current Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification.
- Current Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in an outpatient infusion setting or oncology infusion clinic.
- Demonstrated experience with Port/PICC line access and management.
- Extensive experience in administering chemotherapy.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency with Cerner EMR system.
- Expertise in IV insertion, central line care, and port access.
- Skilled in infusion pump operation and monitoring.
- Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent patient education and communication abilities.
- Ability to monitor for and manage adverse reactions to infusions.
- Effective coordination and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Compassionate and efficient patient care delivery.
Shift Details
- Assignment Start Date: October 19, 2026
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (10.5-hour shifts)
- Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: None

- Note: Occasional Friday coverage may be requested as needed.
Licensing Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Colorado.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification.
