Description: The unit operates as a Level III Trauma Center with an urgent care setting. It includes 11 bed units and 2 critical care rooms, all of which are private rooms. There is one dedicated Behavioral Health Safe Room available. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4. Charting is completed using an electronic medical record system. Unit Assistants, often EMT-trained, cover the entire floor, assisting nurses. Weekend scheduling varies; nurses may work every third weekend, every other weekend, or every weekend. Weekends are defined as Friday to Sunday for night shifts or Saturday to Sunday for day shifts. Holiday shifts are expected based on scheduling needs. Scrub colors are not specified. Shift start times are 0700, 1100, or 1900. Nurses will rotate shifts unless a straight shift schedule is agreed upon. There is no floating to other units required.
