Job Summary

Join the dedicated surgical team at Moab Regional Hospital in Moab, Utah, a critical access facility serving a vibrant rural community. This Perioperative Registered Nurse role is essential for providing comprehensive care to patients across the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases of surgical procedures.

The ideal candidate is a highly adaptable and detail-oriented professional with a strong commitment to patient safety. You will utilize a broad range of general nursing skills, responding quickly and accurately to diverse situations inherent in a rural healthcare setting, and will have the opportunity to significantly expand your clinical expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide holistic nursing care to surgical patients throughout the perioperative continuum (pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative).
  • Ensure strict adherence to patient safety protocols and precautions.
  • Maintain and enforce aseptic and sterile techniques within the operating room.
  • Perform circulating duties for a diverse range of surgical cases, including General, Orthopedic, and Obstetric procedures (e.g., C-sections).
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other multidisciplinary team members.
  • Demonstrate rapid and accurate response to emergent situations and changes in patient status.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Actively participate in learning new skills and adapting to evolving surgical practices.
  • Assist with trauma cases in the Emergency Room as needed, demonstrating flexibility and broad clinical capability.
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Demonstrated excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques.
  • Solid understanding and application of patient safety principles and precautions.
  • Proven ability to be a strong team player with exceptional communication skills (oral, written, and listening).
  • Cool-tempered demeanor with emotional and physical stamina, capable of responding effectively in stressful and rapidly changing circumstances.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in Pre-operative (Pre-op) and/or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
  • Knowledge of surgical operation procedures.
  • Proficiency in Pre-op, PACU, and Circulating roles for General, Orthopedic, and Obstetric cases (including C-sections).
  • Confidence in independently managing surgical patients as the sole Operating Room nurse during emergency call cases.

Licensing Requirements
  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Utah or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification or ability to obtain within three months of hire.
