Job Title: Pediatric Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day and Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Active state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, MAB, PALS required Must-Have: - Two years of pediatric emergency department experience preferred - First time travelers accepted Description: Pediatric Emergency Department Nurse will work variable shifts, including 0700, 1100, 1400, and 1900. The unit experiences high volume and activity, particularly during winter months. The facility is a Level I trauma center and typically sees over 400 pediatric visits per day during peak winter season. Staffing includes emergency department technicians to support nurses in patient care. Nurses will have autonomy in running codes internally. The patient population includes children and young adults up to 25 years of age. The role requires a candidate who is comfortable with high acuity cases and is familiar with various emergency scenarios, including respiratory distress and trauma. Candidates must be prepared to float as needed. Behavioral health experience is a plus, given the variety of cases. Requirements include managing acute illnesses and injuries and providing emergency care in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team are essential. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to pediatric nursing and the flexibility to adapt to changing patient care needs.
