Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract assignment in Fairfield, Iowa. This role is based in a dynamic Emergency Department, providing critical care to a diverse patient population presenting with acute illnesses and injuries.
The successful candidate will be responsible for applying the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive patient care. This includes guiding patient education and overseeing the activities of ancillary personnel, all while upholding the highest standards of professional nursing practice in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide total patient care through the systematic application of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and implement nursing interventions in an emergency setting.
- Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust care plans as necessary to ensure optimal recovery and stabilization.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
- Direct and supervise ancillary personnel, ensuring efficient and effective patient care delivery.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient care activities.
- Adhere strictly to professional nursing standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
- Iowa Mandatory Reporter Certificates (Child Abuse & Dependent Adult Abuse).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an Emergency Department setting.

Shift Details
- Shift Type: Nights
- Hours: 3 x 12-hour shifts per week (6:00 PM - 6:30 AM)
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Holiday Rotation: Rotating holidays

Licensing Requirements
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Iowa.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
