Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Evenings Hours per Shift: 11a-11p (Open to weekends only shift if desired) Experience: Minimum 3 years in Emergency Department License: Active RN License Required Certifications: ACLS, PALS, BLS Certification Must-Have: ED experience is a must. Familiarity with critical ED drips. Ability to manage patients in a fast-paced environment. Description: This position requires an experienced Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room. The facility is not a trauma center and does not have a cath lab or serve as a stroke center. Patients that require trauma care, catheterization, or stroke treatment will be stabilized and transported. The emergency room has 25 beds and offers a fast track for patients. A separate triage area is available, but travelers are not required to do triage. It also contains separate rooms for psychiatric patients and has in-house security 24/7. On average, the emergency room treats approximately 100 patients daily. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:4 to 1:5. Required certifications include ACLS and PALS. Common diagnoses and patient types in the emergency room include a wide range of critical cases. Nurses in this role will draw labs and perform breathing treatments. There are no monitor techs; RNs are responsible for reading strips while the charge nurse oversees monitors. Transport for X-ray or CT scan occurs right outside of the emergency room. Requests for schedule preferences are taken into account, but the schedule is pre-determined. Travelers must work every other weekend and holiday. There is no call or standby requirement for this position. Travelers do not float to other units. The dress code consists of navy blue scrubs. Unit-specific orientation is provided.
