RNs perform typical nursing procedures, including but not limited to IV starts and Foley catheter insertions.

A medication system is not used in this facility. Staffing typically includes 2 RNs and either a PCT or LPN as a third person. Floating is required between med/surg, outpatient, and emergency department. The unit has 10 patient rooms and averages close to 4 patients per day. The nurse to patient ratio averages between 1:2 and 1:3, but may reach a maximum of 1:6. The dress code is navy scrubs. Individualized training is available to meet the needs of the incoming nurse. All nurses on floor duty are expected to be able to cover the ER. Flexibility is available regarding charge nurse responsibilities. Cancellation policies apply as per guidelines. Charting is completed using an electronic system.
