Description:
This is a very high acuity unit.
Contractors will manage a heavy load of strokes, cardiovascular cases, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health, and sepsis.
They will also see some trauma, but this is not a trauma-designated unit.
The competent nurse demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation.
They provide routine and complex care, with the ability to manage long-range goals.
The nurse continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing.
They make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.
Responsibilities include meeting expectations of relevant competencies.
Consistent with standards of practice, the nurse provides care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
They address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
Using appropriate protocols, the nurse administers medications and treatments, while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
Documentation of patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given is required.
The nurse assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers while identifying issues and resources.
