Job Summary
Join a dynamic Emergency Department at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York, a comprehensive 64-bed unit designed to manage a wide range of emergent conditions. This includes 2 Triage bays, 40 acute care beds, 6 super track beds, 2 Trauma bays, 10 Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) beds, and 6 psychiatric beds.
This fast-paced environment serves a diverse patient population, from newborns and pediatrics to adults and geriatrics, presenting with critical diagnoses such as stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure. As a Travel Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing immediate, high-quality care to patients across all acuity levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population (Newborn, Pediatrics, Adults, Geriatric) presenting with various emergent conditions including Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, Myocardial Infarction, Cardiac Arrest, and Respiratory Failure.
- Perform rapid assessment, intervention, and stabilization of critically ill and injured patients.
- Utilize specialized equipment such as Rapid Infusor and Arctic Sun.
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently using EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Float to other units as required by hospital needs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department setting.
- Demonstrated experience with pediatric patients.
- Prior travel nursing experience is required.

Skills & Competencies
- Expert clinical assessment and intervention for emergent conditions (Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, Myocardial Infarction, Cardiac Arrest, Respiratory Failure).
- Proficiency in operating specialized equipment including Rapid Infusor and Arctic Sun.
- Competency in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, specifically EPIC.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.

- Hours: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
- Duration: 12-hour shifts
- Days per week: 3 days per week
- Contract Length: 13 weeks

Licensing Requirements
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (required to be in hand).
