Job Summary
Join the dynamic Emergency Department at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York, as a Travel Registered Nurse. This high-volume, 64-bed unit provides critical and emergent care to a diverse patient population ranging from newborns to geriatrics. The department features specialized areas including Triage, Acute Care, Super Track, Trauma, Critical Decision Unit (CDU), and Psychiatric care.
As an integral member of the ED team, you will manage a wide array of complex cases, including stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure. This role demands exceptional clinical skills, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while utilizing advanced medical equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert nursing care, assessment, and intervention for patients across the lifespan, from newborn to geriatric, presenting with acute and emergent conditions.
- Manage and stabilize patients experiencing critical diagnoses such as Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, Myocardial Infarction, Cardiac Arrest, and Respiratory Failure.
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment, including Rapid Infusors and Arctic Sun.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Document all patient care activities accurately and thoroughly within the EMR system.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including floating to other units as required by facility needs.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) with an active New York state license.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in an Emergency Department setting.
- Documented experience in pediatric emergency care.
- Prior travel nursing experience.

- Proficiency in EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Competency in managing patients with Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, Myocardial Infarction, Cardiac Arrest, and Respiratory Failure.
- Experience with specialized equipment such as Rapid Infusors and Arctic Sun.
- Ability to care for a diverse patient population ranging from newborn to geriatric.
- Strong critical thinking, assessment, and intervention skills in a fast-paced emergency environment.

Licensing Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Current AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (required to be in hand).
- NURSYS report and verification of all active RN licenses.
