Job Summary

Join a dynamic Emergency Department team in Ithaca, New York, for a 13-week travel assignment. This role involves providing expert nursing care to a diverse patient population experiencing acute and critical conditions. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, delivering timely assessments, interventions, and stabilization for patients across the lifespan.

As an ED RN, you will be integral to the initial evaluation and management of emergent cases, collaborating closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This position requires a high level of critical thinking, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering compassionate care under pressure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, psychological, and social aspects, upon arrival and throughout their ED stay.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care based on patient needs, physician orders, and established protocols.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for effectiveness and adverse reactions.
  • Perform emergency interventions, including but not limited to cardiac monitoring, airway management, wound care, and IV insertion.
  • Prioritize patient care based on acuity and urgency, utilizing advanced triage skills.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, residents, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health record documentation.
  • Ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department setting.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency in emergency assessment, triage, and critical care interventions.
  • Expertise in IV insertion, phlebotomy, EKG interpretation, and medication administration.
