Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (Nights)
Job Summary
Join a dedicated Emergency Department team in Elmira, New York, within a large facility featuring 48 treatment spaces. This role is for an experienced Registered Nurse to provide critical care during night shifts, serving a diverse patient population requiring urgent medical attention.
The successful candidate will manage a patient ratio of 1:5, ensuring high-quality, compassionate care in a fast-paced environment. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a vital healthcare service, providing essential support during overnight hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for emergency patients.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, and assist with procedures as per physician orders and hospital policy.
- Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and other physiological data, responding to changes appropriately and promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, other nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes.
- Document all patient care activities accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record system.
- Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions to promote understanding and adherence.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, and staff within the Emergency Department.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Demonstrated experience in an Emergency Department setting.
- Ability to effectively manage a 1:5 patient ratio.

- Proficiency in emergency nursing procedures, including IV insertion, phlebotomy, wound care, and medication administration.
- Competency in cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, and advanced airway management.
