The RN delivers coordinated nursing care for patients or an assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process.
They supervise and direct the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff and coordinate care with other disciplines.
They utilize critical thinking, professional and supervisory discretion, and independent judgment in their practice.
Essential Functions:
The RN collects relevant data pertinent to the patients' health or situation.
They analyze assessment data to determine diagnosis and care issues.
They develop a plan that prescribes interventions to attain desired outcomes.
They implement the plan, coordinate care delivery, and employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
They evaluate progress toward attaining outcomes.
They identify expected outcomes for the patient or the patient's situation.
They collaborate with the patient, family, and healthcare providers in providing patient care in a safe, caring environment.
They provide learning opportunities for patients and family members as well as team members.
They directly provide health information to patients, families, and treatment teams.
They participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
They delegate appropriately and coordinate duties of healthcare team members.
They perform other job-related duties as assigned.
