Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our Labor & Delivery unit in Rockford, Illinois. This role is situated within a Level 1 Trauma Center, providing comprehensive care to a diverse patient population, including those with high-risk pregnancies.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise across the full spectrum of maternal-child health, including Antepartum, Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Lactation support. This position requires a commitment to patient-centered care, collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and adherence to the highest standards of nursing practice.
As a vital member of our team, you will be responsible for utilizing the nursing process to develop and execute individualized patient care plans, administer medications and treatments, and ensure meticulous documentation. Your critical thinking skills will be essential in maintaining patient safety and enhancing the patient experience within a dynamic healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in strict accordance with approved nursing techniques, hospital policies, procedures, standards of care, and state practice acts.
- Develop, initiate, and execute individualized patient plans of care as prescribed by physicians and/or hospital policy, including comprehensive patient and family education.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly, adhering to established standards of care.
- Participate actively in department or unit performance improvement initiatives, which may include shared governance activities.
- Provide clinical expertise and guidance to other units or departments to support the patient’s longitudinal plan of care.
- Apply critical thinking skills to ensure patient safety and optimize the patient experience, escalating concerns appropriately through the chain of command.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery.
- Demonstrated experience with high-risk labor & delivery patients.
- Experience working in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment.

Licensing Requirements
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois.
