Job Summary
Join the dedicated team at St. Mary's Cecile J. Coulomb Emergency Center in Lewiston, Maine. This facility provides a full spectrum of emergency care, including a specialized Chest Pain Center, serving a diverse patient population requiring urgent medical attention.
As an essential member of the patient care team, the Registered Nurse delivers comprehensive direct and indirect patient care through the application of the nursing process. This role involves dynamic patient assessment, intervention, and education within a fast-paced emergency environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process across all areas of the unit.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments upon admission and continuously monitor throughout their stay.
- Administer IV medications, therapies, and blood products as required.
- Provide comprehensive patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions.
- Accurately and timely document all nursing care actions, patient teaching, observations, and responses.
- Be willing and able to assume Charge Nurse and Preceptor responsibilities when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent, direct experience in an Emergency Department (ED) setting.
- Must not have been a previous employee of St. Mary's.
- No adverse actions or findings on professional license or background check.
