Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: RN license in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: - Emergency Department nursing experience - Patient assessment skills - Care plan development - Nursing interventions - Adherence to safety standards Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients through the utilization of the nursing process and nursing trends. This role involves the use of technology, financial, and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Responsibilities include performing all duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care is essential for integrating information for the healthcare team. The RN completes an initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with standards based on patient and family needs. The plan of care is implemented, and nursing interventions and patient care procedures are carried out. The RN continuously evaluates and modifies the plan of care as necessary. Ensuring patient and employee safety is a priority, which includes reporting and correcting safety hazards and incidents. Effective communication is required to resolve issues directly and privately when necessary. The RN offers constructive feedback to aid in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand their knowledge base. Identifying personal learning needs and taking the initiative to begin appropriate solutions is also important. Fulfilling all requirements of departmental competencies is expected. The RN implements ED-specific procedures and performs patient assessments in collaboration with providers, family, and patients. Care plans are executed, and modifications are made based on continuous assessment. Safety for both patients and staff is maintained through appropriate nursing interventions and adherence to safety standards. The RN collaborates effectively with staff, visitors, and families to promote a healthy work environment. Accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation are essential.
