Description:
The position is for a registered nurse specializing in the emergency room.
The emergency room has a trauma level of 1 with 65 private beds, including 2 trauma bays.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is variable, typically 1:3 to 1:5, depending on acuity.
Common diagnoses include a wide range of issues, from minor complaints to critical conditions such as strokes and heart attacks.
Nurses will provide care for critically ill patients, with involvement in trauma care after stabilization.
Nurses should be skilled in the titration of various drips, including vasopressors and cardiac medications.
Collaboration with respiratory therapists is essential, as various respiratory equipment is available.
Nurses may draw labs along with ED techs; phlebotomy may assist for boarded patients.
Scheduling consists of 12-hour shifts with every other weekend rotation and holiday requirements.
The role may involve floating to provide assistance on other units, though this is rare.
Nurses must have the ability to interpret and act on telemetry readings, even though monitor technicians are available.
No specific scrub color is required, but tasteful scrubs are expected.
