Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 26 weeks Shift: 12H Evenings Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active state license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ENPC or PALS, TNCC or TNS Must-Have: - Required certifications - General nursing skills - Preferred 2 years of nursing experience - Preferred at least 1 prior travel assignment - Preferred experience in a teaching hospital Description: The Emergency Room caters to a wide variety of patients. Our patient population ranges from newborns to the elderly, presenting with numerous complaints. We treat both minor issues and critically ill patients, including those experiencing cardiac arrest, strokes, and heart attacks regularly. Level 1 and Level 2 trauma patients are managed in specialized areas by a dedicated trauma team. Traveling nurses may care for trauma patients after stabilization and transfer from the trauma bay, but are unlikely to be primary nurses for these patients initially. Nurses in the Emergency Room should be comfortable with titrating various drips, including vasopressors, cardiac medications, and antihypertensives. The department is staffed with a minimum of three physicians at all times, ensuring comprehensive care. Two charge nurses oversee department needs, while a house supervisor is available around the clock. Emergency Department technicians are present to assist with patient care, and nurses are involved in lab draws alongside techs. Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours, with specific attention to weekend and holiday work requirements. Travel nurses are seldom floated to other units, ensuring focus remains in the Emergency Room. Nurses are expected to interpret and respond to clinical data independently. There are no specific scrub color requirements, but tasteful scrubs are encouraged.
