Description

Job Opportunity – Emergency Department RN – Maryland

Start Date: September 14, 2026

Location: Maryland

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts with weekend coverage (6 weekend shifts per contract period). Patient ratio of 4:1 across all shifts. Orientation includes 20 hours plus facility modules (4-8 hours average). Expect to work some holidays and weekends. Two pre-approved time-off periods available per contract.

  • Fast-paced environment treating high-acuity patients across all age groups from neonates to geriatrics
  • Epic electronic medical record system required
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, pharmacy, and social services
  • One-year travel contract with extensive clinical exposure to diverse emergency conditions including trauma, stroke, STEMI, and critical care
  • Full orientation and ongoing education through facility learning portal

Requirements:

  • Current RN license in good standing
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department nursing experience required
  • At least 1 year of travel nursing experience required
  • Active certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale (pending certifications acceptable)
  • Proficiency with Epic charting system required
  • COVID-19 vaccination required (no exemptions)
  • Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
  • 2-step PPD required
  • Must reside outside 50-mile local radius (exceptions may apply for specific specialties)

Clinical Skills:

  • General Emergency Department care for combined adult and pediatric populations
  • Level II Trauma Center experience with ortho trauma and gunshot wound management
  • STEMI and Stroke Certified Facility protocols
  • Advanced skills including blood product administration, central line management, continuous IV sedation, and IV vasopressor management
  • Care of ventilated patients with BiPAP/CPAP management
  • Procedural sedation administration and monitoring
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases
  • CVA management and triage expertise
  • IV insertion and maintenance, isolation precautions, and PPE protocols

Additional Information:

Floating may be required in rotation with facility staff according to organizational policies and in compliance with Joint Commission standards, with appropriate orientation provided. After completion of initial one-year contract, a minimum 90-day separation is required before returning as a travel nurse. Request time off must be presented at time of submission and approved prior to assignment start.
