Description:
This position involves working in a dynamic emergency room setting.
The unit provides care for a wide variety of patients from newborns to the elderly.
Common diagnoses include critical illnesses, strokes, and heart attacks.
Nurses will care for trauma patients once stabilized.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is variable based on acuity.
Candidates will be expected to titrate various drips, including vasopressors.
Nurses should be proficient in cardiac drips and antihypertensive medications.
Emergency room staff includes attending physicians available at all times.
Charge nurses manage patient flow and department needs but do not routinely take teams.
A house supervisor is present 24/7.
Emergency department techs are available to assist with patient care.
Nurses and techs collaborate to draw labs.
Shifts consist of 12 hours, with various start times.
Weekend and holiday shifts are part of the responsibility.
Travelers may be floated to assist on other units as needed.
No specific scrub color is mandated; tasteful attire is expected.
