Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Emergency Room Registered Nurse to join the patient care team at the Cecile J. Coulomb Emergency Center in Lewiston, Maine. This facility provides a full spectrum of emergency care services, including a dedicated Chest Pain Center, serving a diverse patient population.
The successful candidate will be an essential member of the healthcare team, responsible for delivering comprehensive direct and indirect patient care through the application of the nursing process. Key responsibilities include initial and ongoing patient assessment, precise administration of medications, IV therapies, and blood products, and providing vital patient education.
This role requires meticulous documentation of all nursing interventions, patient teaching, observations, and responses to ensure continuity of care and accurate record-keeping within a fast-paced emergency environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process in all areas of the unit.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments upon admission and throughout their stay.
- Administer IV medications, therapies, and blood products as prescribed.
- Provide thorough patient education on conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions.
- Accurately document all nursing care actions, patient teaching, observations, and patient responses.
- Be willing and able to assume Charge Nurse and Preceptor roles as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in an Emergency Department (ED) setting.
- Not a previous employee of St. Mary's.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and maintain a clear professional license history.
