Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Carlinville, Illinois. This role is based in a dynamic emergency department, providing critical care to patients presenting with a wide range of medical conditions and acuities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for rapid assessment, intervention, and stabilization of patients across the lifespan, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. This position requires a commitment to teamwork, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to thrive under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, triage, and re-assessments in the emergency setting.
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by physicians.
- Monitor patient vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and overall condition, recognizing and responding to changes promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly in the electronic medical record.
- Initiate and manage emergency interventions, including code response, trauma care, and stabilization procedures.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Room setting.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification.
- Experience with specific electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
Skills & Competencies
- Clinical Skills: Advanced cardiac life support, trauma assessment and management, IV insertion, phlebotomy, EKG interpretation, medication administration, wound care, airway management, rapid assessment, triage protocols.
- Equipment: Defibrillators, cardiac monitors, ventilators (basic), IV pumps, point-of-care testing devices, EMR systems.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, stress management, empathy, adaptability, attention to detail.

- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
