Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Evening Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of Emergency Department experience License: Active RN License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC Must-Have: 2 years of Emergency Department experience. Description: Travelers are expected to float throughout the designated zone. The traveler is responsible for obtaining housing that makes this feasible. The requirement to float applies regardless of housing location. Clinicians must be in-state for the week of orientation. Travelers cannot miss more than three shifts in a 13-week contract. A two-week notice is required to avoid penalties for backing out. Floating is mandatory throughout designated facilities. Shifts are scheduled 4-6 weeks in advance and may vary. Weekly schedules can be assigned at a single facility or via call shortly before shift start. Average patient volume varies by location, treating between 40 to 168 patients per day. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4-5 based on acuity. The charge nurse takes assignments as part of their role. Techs provide support for unit secretary tasks, assist nurses, and help in triage. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Registered nurses will perform lab testing and draw labs as needed. Self-scheduling is not allowed; schedules are made by leadership. Weekend and holiday work is required every other occurrence. Floating is within the designated zone facilities. Scrub color is navy blue. There is a cancellation policy in place, allowing for shift cancellations. The charting system used is electronic.
