Job Summary
Join the dynamic team at MVHS-Wynn, a leading healthcare facility in Utica, New York, as a dedicated Travel Registered Nurse in our Emergency Department. This role offers an opportunity to provide critical care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, serving a diverse patient population ranging from newborns to geriatrics.
Our comprehensive 64-bed Emergency Department includes specialized areas such as Triage, Acute Care, Super Track, Trauma, Clinical Decision Unit (CDU), and Psychiatric beds. You will be instrumental in managing a wide array of patient diagnoses, including stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction (MI), cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure, utilizing advanced equipment and protocols to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to patients across all age groups (Newborn, Pediatrics, Adults, Geriatrics) within the Emergency Department.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, implement nursing interventions, and evaluate patient responses.
- Manage and stabilize patients presenting with critical conditions such as stroke, sepsis, trauma, MI, cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure.
- Operate and monitor specialized emergency equipment, including Rapid Infusors and Arctic Sun devices.
- Accurately document all patient care activities, observations, and interventions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Float to other units as required by departmental needs and patient census.
Required Qualifications
- Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care experience in an Emergency Department setting.
- Demonstrated experience providing care to pediatric patients within an Emergency Department.
- Prior travel nursing experience is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience and capability in a Charge Nurse role.

- Expertise in Emergency Department protocols, procedures, and rapid assessment techniques.
- Proficiency in managing diverse patient acuities and age groups, from newborn to geriatric.
- Competency in operating specialized medical equipment, including Rapid Infusor and Arctic Sun.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities.
- Proficiency with EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.

Licensing Requirements
- Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Current AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Current National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (must be in hand at time of submission).
- NURSYS report for license verification.
