Job Title: Nursing Administration Profession: Nursing Specialty: Nursing Administration Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 3+ years of Emergency Department experience, 1 year travel experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS; PALS preferred Must-Have: Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills Strong IV skills Basic Emergency Department knowledge of drips and medication administration Ability to obtain EKGs Description: This position involves working in a fast-paced nursing environment. The average daily patient volume is 115, with a focus on providing quality care. You will encounter various patient types, including neonates and geriatric patients. Common diagnoses include minor traumas, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, mental health issues, respiratory problems, and cardiac complaints. Travelers will not be expected to work in the triage area. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, where the fifth patient typically has low acuity needs during surge times. There is support within the department, with one Emergency Room Tech for every 10-12 patients. Charge nurses and hospitalists are available for support. Familiarity with EPIC EMR is preferred. You will work with various technologies, including IV pumps and bedside monitors. There is no expectation for floating to other units. Weekend rotation requires working every other weekend, but back-to-back weekends are rare. On-call duties are not required. Holiday expectations vary, with 2 of 3 summer holidays and 1 from each winter holiday group. Approvals for time off are permitted up to 7 days in advance. Shift times may vary depending on requisition needs. The schedule is made in 6-week increments, with shifts being assigned 1-2 weeks prior. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary as self-scheduling is not available. Dress code includes navy blue scrubs. Artificial fingernails or extenders are not permitted when providing direct patient care. Nail tips should be kept to less than one inch long.
