Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1.5 years of experience, with 2 years of recent emergency room experience required. License: Active nursing license required. Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS required. Must-Have: - Strong critical-thinking skills. - Ability to adapt to available resources. - Proficient in a well-rounded clinical approach across various responsibilities. Description: Clinicians should be prepared to use strong critical-thinking skills. They must be able to adapt to the available resources. A well-rounded clinical approach across a variety of responsibilities is essential. Telemetry test required; travelers will complete a telemetry test onsite during orientation, with two attempts to pass. Failure to pass after the second attempt will result in contract cancellation. Clinical skills required include the ability to interpret and manage heart rhythm changes. Care for critically ill patients with multi-organ issues is necessary. Administrating blood products and managing central lines is expected. Travelers must be able to start and maintain IVs. They must also administer IV sedation and vasopressors. Caring for stroke patients requires specific skills and knowledge. Experience with ventilated patients is essential. Candidates should manage BiPAP/CPAP effectively. Interpreting arterial blood gases (ABGs) is a required skill. Following isolation precautions is mandatory. Performing triage is an important responsibility. No disciplinary issues on the nursing license are permitted. An interview will be conducted via phone or virtually. All requested time off must be submitted with the application. No time off will be approved after an offer is made. Travelers must arrange coverage for additional shifts if needed. Upon applying, submission of requested time off is required. This role requires the ability to independently measure telemetry strips and accurately interpret cardiac rhythms. Achieving a minimum score of 80% on a telemetry assessment is a requirement. Assessment includes identification of heart blocks, arrhythmias, and paced rhythms. Understanding of normal interval durations on telemetry strips is necessary. Appropriate clinical interventions in response to arrhythmias must be demonstrated. Travelers are responsible for ensuring that they meet the eligibility requirements of the assignment. First-time travelers can be accepted on a case-by-case basis depending on experience. Travel pairs may be submitted for consideration but scheduling issues have been noted in the past. Training for the EMR system will be provided. Previous employees cannot be submitted for traveler positions. Eligible return travelers must be in good standing.
