Description

Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse Profession: Level 3 RN Specialty: Emergency Room (ER) Duration: 14 weeks Shift: 3x12.0 Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an emergency or critical care setting preferred. License: Current RN license in the state of practice. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC required. Must-Have: Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills. Description: The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality, compassionate, and efficient care to patients in a fast-paced, dynamic emergency department setting. The ED RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and provides critical patient assessments. They ensure optimal outcomes while maintaining patient safety and confidentiality. Key Responsibilities: Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients' physical and emotional health. Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed. Monitor and document patient responses to care and adjust plans as necessary. Provide education to patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up care. Effectively triage patients to prioritize care based on the severity of illness or injury. Assist in resuscitation, stabilization, and advanced life support procedures during emergencies. Operate and maintain emergency equipment, including defibrillators, monitors, and ventilators. Work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members to coordinate care. Communicate patient status, changes, and care plans clearly to team members and families. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and case discussions. Adhere to established protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR). Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff by following infection control and safety protocols. Participate in continuing education and training programs to stay current with best practices. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and emergency department performance metrics. Working Conditions: This role operates in a fast-paced environment requiring physical stamina and emotional resilience. Frequent standing, walking, and lifting of patients or equipment is expected. Exposure to infectious diseases and potential hazardous materials may occur. Key Competencies: Clinical judgment and decision-making are essential. The ability to multitask and manage time efficiently is required. Compassion and empathy under pressure are critical. Teamwork and adaptability in unpredictable situations are necessary.
