Description:
12-hour shifts include evening or night rotations.
Weekend and holiday rotation is required.
Experience with adult and pediatric populations is necessary.
High acuity emergency department care is provided.
Comprehensive patient care is supported by a team of sub-specialists.
The department handles over 60,000 urgent and emergent cases annually.
Designated as a trauma center and specialized care center.
Requires rapid, evidence-based treatment for complex conditions.
Supports programs in ECPR/ECMO, transplant, oncology, and burn care.
Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, and radiology.
Common patient diagnoses include abdominal pain, seizures, and respiratory infection.
Involvement in trauma care and management of violent behavior is expected.
Ability to interpret medical data, including arterial blood gases and EKGs.
Monitoring and management of ventilated patients and cardiac patients are required.
Travelers are expected to float to other areas as needed.
Two attempts are allowed for passing the telemetry exam, with strict passing criteria.
High standards are set for patient care and teamwork in this fast-paced environment.
Candidates must have two years of acute care experience in the specialty they are submitting to.
