Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ER/Medsurg Swing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day/Night Rotate Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years ER experience and previous Medsurg experience required License: Active RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS (preferred) Must-Have: Must have 2 years ER experience and previous Medsurg experience Description: This position is for an ER Registered Nurse specializing as a Medsurg Swing RN. The shift schedule involves rotating between day and night shifts. The candidate will work 7a-7p for one week and 7p-7a for the following week. Weekend work is required every other week, and holiday requirements apply if they fall within the scheduled rotation. The unit has a trauma level designation of IV, with specific capabilities for STEMI and Stroke care. The unit comprises 4 beds and 2 trauma bays. There is no Fast Track service, and ER holds are intermixed within the ER. Separate psych/seclusion rooms are available. Security is not in-house 24/7. On average, 10 patients are treated in the ER per day. An ED physician is typically available on-site, with a charge nurse present on each shift who also takes an assignment. There are no dedicated nurse aids, EMTs, paramedics, or patient sitters on each shift. Respiratory therapy is not available 24/7, and lab staff perform phlebotomy. RNs are required to read their own telemetry strips using Mindray monitors. RNs may be required to float to Medsurg and Swing bed units located in the same area. The dress code for RNs is navy blue scrubs. RTO (Request Time Off) must be provided up front, with additional requests not approved after submission. The cancellation policy allows for up to 4 shifts to be canceled per 13-week assignment. The charting system utilized is Point Click Care (PCC).
