Description:
A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients.
The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit, promoting their own development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education.
The RN supervises both licensed and non-licensed staff members.
Using the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care, the RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care.
The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction.
The RN applies their educational and professional experiences in delivering quality care and mentoring or precepting staff.
Job Responsibilities:
Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments as warranted by patient condition and demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.
Development & Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care and revises the plan as indicated.
Collaborates with patients/families and interdisciplinary services; utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization and patient/family.
Evaluation: Monitors and documents the response to clinical interventions.
Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient/family needs.
Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; functions as a mentor/preceptor.
Demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork; identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement.
Participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes.
Complies with regulatory standards and participates in a practice governance model.
