Job Summary

Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) in St Johnsbury, Vermont, is seeking an experienced Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join its dynamic Emergency Department. As a rural critical access hospital, NVRH's ED is a busy 9-bed unit, currently undergoing expansion, and serves over 15,000 patients annually, providing comprehensive emergency services to the community.

In this fast-paced environment, the ED RN provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, and collaborates closely with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate medical and nursing management. The ideal candidate will be a proactive team member, adept at quick learning, and capable of performing effectively under pressure to ensure optimal patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department.
  • Assess patient conditions, evaluate outcomes, and adjust nursing care processes as indicated.
  • Consult with other medical specialties to ensure comprehensive patient management.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members.
  • Coordinate medical and nursing aspects of patient care, ensuring continuity and quality.
  • Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations.
  • Act as a proactive and adaptable team member within a busy ED setting.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent, acute care Emergency Room (ER) Registered Nurse experience.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the Meditech Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
