Job Summary
Join a dedicated healthcare team at Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, Nebraska, as a versatile Registered Nurse. This role offers the unique opportunity to provide comprehensive patient care across multiple critical areas, including Medical-Surgical, Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery (LDR), and Nursery settings. You will be instrumental in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic rural hospital environment.
The ideal candidate will leverage their clinical expertise to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a diverse patient population, from acute medical and surgical cases to emergency situations and maternal-newborn care. This position requires strong critical thinking, adaptability, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of nursing practice and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including comprehensive assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions for patients in Med/Surg, ER, LDR, and Nursery.
- Administer medications safely and accurately via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous routes, utilizing barcode scanning within the electronic health system.
- Monitor IV sites, manage infusion rates, and perform IV discontinuations as per protocol.
- Respond to emergency situations, performing selected procedures and therapeutic treatments in the Emergency Department.
- Provide specialized care for obstetrical patients through labor, delivery, and postpartum stages, as well as comprehensive care for newborns.
- Observe, record, and report patient signs, symptoms, and changes in condition to appropriate medical staff.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on self-care, treatment plans, and health promotion.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records and documentation in compliance with facility standards.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment, including proper use and sterilization of equipment and supplies.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives, committees, in-service programs, and educational workshops to foster continuous improvement.
- Assist in the training and orientation of new nursing staff members.
- Adhere strictly to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and the facility's Compliance Program.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current certifications: BLS (CPR), ACLS, TNCC, NRP, STABLE.
