Job Summary

Join a dynamic and fast-paced adult community Emergency Department in Columbia, Missouri. This 16-bed unit manages approximately 25,000 annual cases, focusing on a high admission rate and diverse patient presentations.

The primary patient population includes adults presenting with acute conditions such as Stroke, STEMI, Sepsis, various Respiratory and Cardiac diseases, and Orthopedic injuries. The department handles minimal trauma or pediatric patients, allowing for a concentrated focus on adult emergency care. Nurses maintain a patient ratio of 1:3-4, ensuring focused and comprehensive care delivery.

This role requires a highly skilled and adaptable Registered Nurse capable of providing rapid assessment, intervention, and stabilization in a high-acuity environment, while upholding outstanding customer service and fostering strong team support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive and compassionate nursing care to adult patients in an emergency setting.
  • Conduct rapid and accurate patient assessments, prioritizing interventions based on acuity and clinical presentation.
  • Manage and stabilize patients experiencing conditions such as stroke, STEMI, sepsis, respiratory distress, cardiac events, and orthopedic emergencies.
  • Administer medications, perform treatments, and operate medical equipment according to established protocols.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Document all patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced Emergency Department setting.
  • Proficiency in managing adult emergency patients with diverse and high-acuity conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department.
  • Experience caring for patients with chemical dependency.
