Job Summary

Join a dynamic and fast-paced adult community Emergency Department in Columbia, Missouri. This 16-bed unit manages approximately 25,000 annual cases, focusing primarily on adult patients presenting with diverse conditions including Stroke, STEMI, Sepsis, various Respiratory and Cardiac diseases, and Orthopedic issues. While the primary focus is adult emergency care, candidates should be prepared for minimal trauma or pediatric patients.

The department operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4, emphasizing high-quality patient care, outstanding customer service, and robust team support. This role is ideal for an experienced Emergency Department RN seeking to apply advanced clinical skills in a high-admission environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to a diverse adult patient population, including those with Stroke, STEMI, Sepsis, and complex cardiac/respiratory conditions.
  • Perform rapid and accurate patient assessments, implement critical interventions, and manage patient flow in a high-volume emergency setting.
  • Utilize advanced clinical skills such as IV insertion, central line management, EKG interpretation, and various airway management techniques.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes and efficient departmental operations.
  • Maintain a therapeutic and safe environment, adhering to established protocols and standards of care while upholding exceptional customer service and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent, acute care experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in emergency assessment and intervention for adult patients.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service and contribute to a supportive team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in an Emergency Department setting.
  • Experience caring for patients with chemical dependency.
