Description:
A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients.
The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective, patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
The RN is responsible for maintaining a financially stable unit and promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education.
The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members.
Applying the caring processes of a recognized model of care, the RN is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the plan of care.
The RN focuses on patient and family comforts, education, and satisfaction.
The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring or precepting staff.
Job Responsibilities:
Assessment: Performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition; demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions.
Development & Implementation: Initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care and reviews and revises the plan as indicated.
Collaborates with patient/family and interdisciplinary services; utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization, patient, and family.
Evaluation: Monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions.
Education: Facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs.
Leadership: Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel; functions as a mentor or preceptor; demonstrates, encourages, and facilitates teamwork.
Identifies and communicates opportunities for improvement; participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts and implements practice changes; complies with regulatory standards.
