Description:
The unit provides care in an emergency and medical surgical environment.
The facility operates as a critical access hospital.
It has a total of 25 beds available for patient care.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:8, utilizing team nursing.
Common patient diagnoses include dementia, diabetes, and various chronic illnesses.
Nurses manage IV medication, blood administration, and initial trauma care in the emergency room.
The population served includes dependent older adults and patients in need of rehabilitation services.
Charge nurses are present on each shift and manage team assignments.
Nurse aides or patient care technicians are available to assist nurses.
PT equipment such as CPAP is patient managed, and nurses are not required to handle any other RT equipment.
Registered nurses must read and interpret telemetry strips.
Team scheduling with possible block scheduling is available upon request.
Weekend duty involves working every other weekend, and holidays are scheduled alternately.
Floating between emergency and medical surgical support is expected.
Scrubs are provided with no specific color requirement.
The charting system used is EPIC.
This position does not require a BSN.
