Assists with the rehabilitation of patients according to medical and/or nursing plans. Observes site of insertion and rate of flow in IVs and discontinues IVs. Assists in planning, providing, and evaluating patient care as a member of the nursing team. Responsible for total patient care when assigned. Performs duties in the care and cleaning of rooms and equipment after use or discharge. Prepares and sterilizes patient supplies and keeps utility and service rooms in order. Observes, records, and reports general and specific physical and mental conditions of patients, and signs and symptoms indicative of change. Performs selected procedures and therapeutic treatments. Provides nursing care in the Emergency Room following demonstration of competence. Observes and provides care to the obstetrical patient through labor, delivery, and postpartum periods after demonstration of competence. Observes and provides care of the newborn.
