Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ER/MedSurg/Swing Bed Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days, Nights every other week Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC Must-Have: Understanding of dementia, stroke, skin care, geriatric patient care Description: Department: ER / MedSurg / Swing Bed Unit Critical access facility with 25 beds. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:8. Utilizes team nursing. Common diagnoses include dementia, dependent older adults, diabetes, rehabilitation post-acute illness, IV medication, fluid and blood administration, COVID, wounds, and initial care of trauma patients in the ER. Experience with exacerbation of chronic illnesses and care for the geriatric population is required. RNs are required to titrate drips. Common titratable or set-rate drips include electrolytes, hypertensive medications, IV antibiotics, and blood transfusions. There is a Charge Nurse on each shift who handles team assignments, not individual ones. Nurse aides/CNAs are present on each shift. Patient-managed CPAP is available, but RNs are not required to do anything beyond troubleshooting RT equipment. RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips. Shifts are from 0645 to 1915 and 1845 to 0715. Team scheduling is available with block scheduling possible upon request. Weekend requirement is every other week. Holiday requirement is alternating or as scheduled, usually every other holiday. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating requirements include ER and MedSurg support. Scrubs are provided with no specific color requirement. Candidates must adhere to a radius rule of 50 miles. Request for time off must be provided upfront and additional requests will not be approved after initial submission. Cancellation policy allows for 4 shifts per contract, or 3 shifts if the contract is under 13 weeks. Charting system used is EPIC. BSN degree is not required.
