Description:
Registered Nurse position in the Emergency Services department.
The unit has a capacity for 20 beds and trauma bays.
Average patient volume is approximately 105 patients per 24 hours.
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with team care in intake areas.
Nurses manage their own ER holds as part of their assignment.
One seclusion room is available for psychiatric patients.
In-house security is present.
Both ED Physicians and Mid-Levels provide support, with 2-4 providers available throughout the day.
Charge Nurses and House Supervisors are assigned.
ED Techs, Paramedics, and Patient Sitters are available when staffing allows.
Respiratory Therapy handles ABGs and breathing treatments regularly.
Registered Nurses conduct EKGs and monitor telemetry for all beds and halls, except intake areas.
Radiology is adjacent, with house transporters available when possible.
Nurse or ED Techs draw blood from IV starts, and phlebotomy is used for other draws or cultures.
Mid-shifts are typically from 11 AM to 11 PM, 12 PM to 12 AM, or 2 PM to 2 AM; nights are from 7 PM to 7 AM.
Weekend work is required every other weekend.
Holidays are similar to staff holiday rotations, requiring work on two major holidays per year.
On-call shifts are required, with two 12-hour shifts scheduled every four weeks.
Navy blue scrub color is mandated.
Unit-specific orientation is provided.
Charting is conducted using Cerner EMR.
