The nurse may work with a variety of patient age groups including neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Daily patient ratios are expected to be 4 patients per nurse. Interdisciplinary support includes various services such as physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary. Required skills include blood product administration, care of ventilated patients, central line care/management, and management of violent behavior among others. This role also requires triaging patients and managing patients with psychiatric holds, suicidal tendencies, and drug overdoses. Experience with emergency medications and interpretation of dysrhythmias is preferred. The position requires flexibility in scheduling.
