The Registered Nurse implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person.

This includes provision of nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments.
Facilitating admission, transfer, and discharge activities is also part of the role.
The RN provides patient and family-centered education.
Individualized treatment planning and care coordination are completed as applicable.
Comprehensive patient assessments are performed and documented in accordance with the RN's scope of practice and relevant policies.
Patient culture, age, and developmental levels are considered.
Risk factors and presenting complaints are identified.
Objective and subjective data are collected effectively.
The RN collaborates with inter-professional teams to prioritize patient needs.
Desired outcomes are determined based on patient and family coordination.
Therapies and procedures are fully implemented with clinical autonomy.
The RN explains procedures and treatments to patients and families.
Actions are initiated to alleviate patient stress and discomfort.
Changes in patient conditions are recognized and communicated appropriately.
Ongoing assessments and responses to therapies are conducted and documented per established standards.
