Description:
Position available for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room.
The ratio of nurses to patients is 1:4.
Candidates must have prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma Emergency Department.
Teaching hospital experience is preferred but not required.
First-time travelers are accepted for this position.
Weekend work is required every other weekend.
Floating to other units may be necessary.
Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS.
Preferred certifications include TNCC and CPI.
Experience with the Epic charting system is preferred.
The unit cares for patients of all ages, including neonates, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
The average daily census is approximately 120 patients.
The unit is supported by various interdisciplinary services, including respiratory services and pharmacology.
The position requires strong skills in acute patient care, including managing traumatic injuries and various medical emergencies.
Applicants must have knowledge of emergency medications, patient triage, and the management of critically ill patients.
Candidates should possess skills in interpreting vital signs, blood gas readings, and managing various invasive lines.
Ability to manage patients with psychiatric conditions and perform procedural sedation is a must.
The role demands effective communication and teamwork within the healthcare setting.
