Registered Nurse - Observation Unit (Telemetry/Med-Surg Float)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Registered Nurse for a 13-week contract assignment at a hospital in Zanesville, Ohio. The primary unit of focus will be the 1S Observation unit, where you will provide comprehensive care to a diverse patient population requiring close monitoring and assessment.

This role demands strong clinical expertise and flexibility, as the RN will be required to float to various Med-Surg units, including Respiratory, Stroke, and Cardiac specialties. There is also a possibility of floating to the Emergency Department, contingent upon appropriate skills and facility needs. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of recent experience in Telemetry and Med-Surg, demonstrating proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and holistic patient management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct, high-quality patient care within the Observation unit, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely.
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, demonstrating proficiency in Telemetry and BCRA.
  • Accurately document all patient information, interventions, and outcomes using the Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Float to various Med-Surg units (e.g., Respiratory, Stroke, Cardiac) as assigned, adapting to different patient populations and unit workflows.
  • Potentially float to the Emergency Department based on demonstrated skills and facility requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and discharge instructions.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of current and recent experience in Telemetry and Med-Surg.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Epic EMR; no refresher training or one-on-one assistance will be provided.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret Telemetry/BCRA; competency will be assessed on day one of the assignment.
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
