Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

Join a high-volume, Level III Trauma Center Emergency Department located in Zanesville, Ohio. This facility features 38 beds and two dedicated trauma bays, consistently ranking among the busiest EDs in the state. As an integral member of the nursing team, you will provide critical care to a diverse patient population experiencing a wide range of medical emergencies and trauma.

This role demands exceptional clinical skills, rapid assessment capabilities, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be proficient in managing complex cases, collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team, and demonstrating a commitment to patient safety and quality care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, for patients in the emergency setting.
  • Administer medications, perform treatments, and operate medical equipment according to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and diagnostic data, initiating appropriate interventions as needed.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations, including trauma resuscitation, cardiac arrests, and other critical events.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and execute individualized patient care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough electronic medical records (EMR) documentation of all patient interactions and interventions.
  • Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of current or recent Emergency Department (ED) experience OR completion of at least three (3) prior ED travel assignments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Epic EMR system is mandatory. Candidates without Epic EMR experience will not be considered.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, Level III Trauma Center environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification.
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certification.

Shift Details
  • Shift Type: Night Shift
  • Hours: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
  • Days per Week: 3 days per week (36 hours total)
  • Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend required.
  • Holiday Rotation: Required. Requests for excessive time off around holidays will not be approved.
  • Call Requirements: Not expected; call requests will be rare.
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Licensing Requirements
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
